A good roomie cups your back!
Cupping is a common treatment in Cambodia and is given between family members. I love the way my body feels during a cupping treatment and always feel more relaxed when the treatment is finished.
Benefits of cupping include: moving stagnation out of the body, stretching muscle and connective tissue, and strengthening the immune system by promoting the flow of lymphatic fluid.

It’s the New Year in Cambodia, a three day holiday that celebrates the New Year and allows farmers to relax before the rainy season begins. Most people have an entire week of holiday off of work, another reason that makes living in Cambodia so enjoyable.
I’m heading to Burma, a country I’ve been wanting to visit ever since my grandmother gave me “The Lady and the Peacock: The Life of Aung San Suu Kyi” before I moved to Cambodia last summer. Aung San Suu Kyi has been the strongest visionary force for democracy in Burma and she is overall an inspiring human being.
I love her words on friendship:
“According to the teachings of Buddhism, a good friend is one who gives things hard to give, does what is hard, bears hard words, tells you his secrets, guards your secrets assiduously, does not forsake you in times of want and does not condemn you when you are ruined. With such friends, one can travel the roughest road”.
A week will fly by in Burma, I am sure. I’ll be visiting Rangoon (Yangon), Pagan (Bagan), and Inlay Lake (Inle Lake). See you here soon with photos!

“The unknown is a truth, yet somehow, we often try to have all the answers and cannot handle NOT knowing or controlling what may happen next. Don’t fight it, it’s a battle you will only lose. Change your relationship with the unknown and have faith that you have the tools within your heart to move through whatever path you are on. Honor the self to dig deep and find these tools. Chin up. You are never, ever alone.” - Cynthia Lorena Yoga
My students know that I think our connection to our core is important in our yoga practice and life off of the mat. I’m excited to start this core exploration program with Yoga Journal. Try it with me!
